Keep an Eye International Jazz Award 2017

A competition for outstanding young musicians from The New School - New York, Royal Academy of Music - London, Jazz-Institute - Berlin, University of Southern California - Los Angeles and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

    Band coaching Marco Pignataro (Head Berklee College of Music) & Martijn Vink (jazz drums teacher at Conservatorium van Amsterdam)

    Masterclass by Dick Oatts Amsterdam Blue Note, CvA 
  • Thursday March 30th 
    International Final BIMHUIS, 20.00hrs 

Arranging assignment

All bands have to arrange and play their own version of a composition by a Jazz composer. This year there is a Coltrane theme, in remembrance of John Coltrane who passed away 50 years ago.
The students can choose one of the following of his compositions: • Countdown • Moments Notice • Naima • 26-02

Prizes Semi-Finals

Both finalists €1000,- Incentive prize €500,- All semi-finalists receive one free recording day in the CvA studio.

First Prize: €2500,- Second Prize: €1500,- Incentive Prize: €750,- Best Coltrane arrangement: €500,-
Best CvA soloist: participation in the Hudson Jazz Workshop, New York 2017 Best non-CvA soloist: participation in the Summer Jazz Workshop, Amsterdam 2017
